This is just the beginning... But wait until you see how cool this is turning out!

Lazy Cosmo Binding

I am a pretty lazy cat, if I can find an easier way to do something I will... Hence my lazy binding.... One sew, basically one really long cut and you should have enough binding material to go around any quilt.

Fold your fabric right sides together and cut a 10" section ( increase by 2 1/2" for bigger quilts).

Take the top layer and move it do it is 2 1/2 " above right side if bottom and 2 1/2" above bottom end of the bottom of the fabric.

Sew 1/2" or whatever along overlapped edge.

You will then careful cut a 2 1/2" strip around the sewn tube.

Continue to
Cut 2 1/2 " strips being careful to only cut the layer, keep turning so that you can make a continuous cut.

Lazy Cosmo Binding

Baby quilt step one...

You will need six fat quarters and approximately 1.25 yards for the back, 1/4 yard for the binding, batting, and a lot of thread.

Cut length wise 2 1/2" strips out of all your fat quarters.

Organize your strips into sets of three... You should have two sets of color/pattern combination with each set remaining in the same order.

Now sew each set of three together with a 1/4 seam allowance. I pinned all of the bottom two strips together, sewed them, then sewed on the top strip.

Press open all seams and press flat.

Cut each three strip section into 7" wide sections.

Lay Two matching pieces right sides together, line up edges. Repeat.

Draw a line diagonally across top square of each set.

Sew along each side a 1/4" from line.

Cut on the diagonal line of each sewn set, press open.

Trim eac square to 6" squares.

Arrange squares in the desired blanket pattern. Sew together pressing seams as you go.

Layer back fabric, batting, and quilt top together, baste, and quilt. Square up edges.
Cut and sew enough binding to make it around the quilt. I used my new favorite Lazy Cosmo Binding way... Sew on the binding, finish, and enjoy!

Less than 24 hour baby quilt...
